Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
When a person is considering the possibility of becoming a Roman Catholic, or just wants to learn more about the Catholic Church and Faith, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a tremendous opportunity to begin that journey.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process designed to draw people into an understanding of the Catholic Faith by transforming their hearts as much as informing their minds. The "process" most addresses individuals who are either:
- unbaptized
- baptized, but into the Christian faith other than the Catholic tradition
- baptized Catholic but for whatever reason was never raised in the faith, or was never Confirmed.
Typically, those involved in the RCIA gather every Sunday morning for the 9:00 AM Mass. At one point during faith journey, those individuals who have never been baptized, participate in a ritual of "Dismissal" where they leave the community to go share a deeper understanding of the Scripture and even the Homily just shared. The RCIA journey ultimately comes to it's fulfillment when those who are involved in the process discern that they are in-fact ready to fully enter the faith life of the Church, through the celebration of the sacraments of baptized (if necessary), confirmation and Eucharist.
