Confirmation

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

Confirmation

The sacrament that completes the full initiation into the Church and community of faith is Confirmation. With the calling down of the Holy Spirit, and anointing with Chrism, the candidates are called into full initiation and are called into full discipleship. The usual reception of the sacrament takes place during or after the candidates 10th grade year. Through participation on a preparation process retreat, catechesis, prayer, study and service to the community. The most important part of the demonstration of readiness is their active participation in prayer and Eucharist (Mass) itself. Through these ways, the candidates demonstrate their desire and willingness to fully embrace the call to discipleship in the Catholic faith. One of the ways we are assisting our youth in this formation is through the M.A.N.N.A Program. The process is a two year program (one year for those students who are attending Catholic school and have theology and religious studies as a part of their regular curriculum).
